January 11, 2014 is the Grand Opening
The Chisolm Trail Museum is hosting a temporary TG&Y Exhibit.  The following information is from their facebook page:
Temporary Exhibit Opening to take place at the Chisholm Trail Museum! Grand Opening: Saturday, January 11th, 2014 at 1:00p.m.
T.G.&.Y: From Humble Beginnings to Prosperity. A temporary exhibit focusing on the rich history of T.G.&.Y, which was one of the most prosperous retail chain stores in the Nation at its peak! The exhibit will focus on R.A. Young, one of the original founders of T.G.&.Y. who started his first store in Kingfisher, Oklahoma in 1927. The exhibit will highlight artifacts from the original T.G.&Y stores on loan from the current owner of the original store, Dennis Mueggenborg. The exhibit will also focus on the hard work ethic, broad vision, and determination of those involved with the store during the times leading up to the Great Depression, through WWII, ending with the prosperity of the store at its peak in the 1980s! A planned reunion of former T.G.&.Y employees from across the nation will also take place here at the Chisholm Trail Museum to correspond with the temporary exhibit! Please mark your calendars for the grand opening of this very special exhibit for Saturday, January 11th at 1:00p.m.
The museum has invited former employees to attend the opening. If you have TG&Y artifacts which you feel would add to the exhibit, they welcome such items to be loaned for this event. This is a perfect opportunity for people to get together in the event the reunion is delayed or postponed this year. I will be sending an email to the list soon to be sure as many people as possible know about it.
If you happen to be in contact with people who normally attend the reunion but don’t have email or internet access, please let them know because there isn’t enough time to do a mailing.
